Focusing on your daily behaviours is better than focusing on an end goal
I’m not sure if you have read Atomic Habits, but if you haven’t you should.
James Clear has some great quotes and the following is one of my favourites
” You do not rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems. Your goal is your desired outcome, your system is the collection of daily habits that will get you there”
James Clear
Goals are great, don’t get me wrong but when you are only thinking about the end goal, you will potentially lose patience quicker and give up and as a result not get there.
Being too focused on an outcome in every situation is limiting and rigid. It’s a one-dimensional perspective. It’s inflexible; it kills the possibility of a different result.
Deviating from the path or the goal might be considered a failure. And this is the flaw in the system
Focus on your daily behaviours that you need to do to get you to that end goal, be it eating regularly, having balanced meals, getting out for a walk , sticking to your calories, positive self talk etc.
Shift your focus on the behaviours that precede the goal.
You will get more out of the process even if you don’t reach the goal.
Focus on your daily behaviours, there were fewer rules about the outcome. (i.e. I need to be X in y amount of time)
The fewer rules there are, the more ways there are to win.
Use the following SMART tool to help with your daily behaviours that if you follow through on, will result in you reaching your end goal.

Your Life isn’t an outcome. It’s not a goal. it’s what happens from day to day
